  • This one-day workshop will provide instruction on the salient points of architecture found in one of Detroits grand churches, such as Historic Trinity Lutheran (English Tudor Perpendicular) or the First Congregational Church of Detroit (Byzantine). The morning session is in the classroom where we will cover techniques to capture not only the overall grand vista, but and understanding of salient styles of church architecture. The afternoon session is at the church where you will photograph the intricate details of the Pewabic pottery tiles integrated into the sanctuary floor or photograph hand carved wooden pews, hand carved stone pulpit, and spectacular stained glass windows.  Learn how to light a huge space where a single flash alone will not be sufficient.  Learn about the use of a light tent and the use of a perspective control lenses to reduce converging lines.  MPW reserves the right to substitute a different church if Historic Trinity is not available (a wedding for example); The First Congregational Church of Detroit is usually the designated alternative church.
