  • Birds, Alligators, & Wildlife in Florida

    • #304

    • This trip is not scheduled at this time.
    • Please contact us about when it will be scheduled.

This six-day workshop will put you in close proximity to wild alligators and wading birds that you can photograph with a 200-300mm lens - but don’t worry; you will be shooting safely from a boardwalk.

On Monday evening, a slide lecture/program will be presented on photo technique.  For the balance of the week, we will be in the field photographing wildlife!  The first day is at the Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge near Cape Canaveral.  The second and third day are at the Everglades National Park Anhinga Trail, Shark Valley and Coral Gables (Burrowing Owls).  The fourth day is at The Venice Rookery and Naples Botanical Garden.  The final Day is at Ding-Darling National Wildlife Preserve.  You will learn about Fresnel lenses to create a telephoto fill flash and about the natural behavior of wildlife.  If you have powerful telephoto lenses or 2X converters, bring them.  35mm, digital and medium format cameras are welcome.  This is tripod shooting!  This workshop is appropriate for photographers and painters who will paint from their photos once back home.  Airfare, lodging, and ground transportation are not included.  Contact MPW for help in renting large lenses.
Students attending the 300 Series Safaris will qualify for a one-day Photoshop opportunity to print exhibition quality images from their recent safari, under the tutelage of Bryce a few weeks after your return.  This printing day is included at no additional charge.
